During my studies in college, I've learned more about myself than I took into thought all by taking a test from a book. This was one of the test I took in my Career Strategies class to get me ready for the business world. Lets you know your strengths and weakness so you know what you can improve on. Before you know the personality type you are, you are given many questions to answer to get the results. These results explains so much that it's better if you here it from that. :D
Book is called "RHETI Personality Test Summary"
Type 9: The Peacemaker
In taking the RHETI test, this book has confirmed the person that I have understood myself to be as well as and many more in my personality that I did not consider. The type 9 category has been divided into three sub-categories which is the Healthy 9’s, Average 9’s, and the Low 9’s. Overall, I scored 25, which translates into a healthy 9.
Type 9
Healthy 9’s are people who are deeply receptive and accepting of other’s individuality, they believe in the greatness of people and the environment, both emotionally and spiritually. Healthy 9’s are what you can call, “the dreamer,” imaginative, creative, and more attuned to nonverbal communication. 9’s are very optimistic, they reassure others with support, loyalty, as well as calming influence.
They heal others by being accepting, understanding, affectionate, and harmonizing in which they bring people together. They are great mediators, communicating with people to help them have a better understanding, are highly genuine and nice people, although in some situations people take their criticism and actions negatively, 9’s intentionally mean it in the most positive way.
They are not self-taught; their main influences to help them mature in this manner requires both parents to be present in their lives whom they learn morals and values from. This is rare to be this healthy for 9’s. No matter how difficult it is at times, they remain patient and calm because, “what’s the point of stress if it doesn’t solve the problem?” Healthy 9’s are one with themselves, the environment, both peaceful and calm. Their view of the world is through the innocent eyes of a child and with the wisdom of a mature adult. Believing the best in all things, 9’s are non-judgmental, even during difficult situations, they still try to keep positive thoughts in their minds.
They practice the thoughts of “Everything will work out for the best” or “Everything happens for a reason.” This positive outlook on life attracts many people causing most of them to feel themselves and comfortable around 9’s. 9’s tends to sacrifice themselves in order to help others because helping others gives them a feeling of righteousness and peace. At their worst, 9’s are quick tempered but most people won’t see this because they keep their feelings repressed. Their way of dealing with their problems is to ignore it, keeping it covered all the way in back of their thoughts, covering them with daydreams and imagining it to solve itself.
They’re conservative people, trying to keep everything the way it is or was to be at peace with themselves. 9’s get tired of things quickly because of their free spirit, which can cause some problems in relationships if the other is more grounded. Yet, they tend to hold on to things that were, when clearly everything’s changing around them. When it comes to other people’s problems, 9’s try their hardest to fix it, repressing their feelings causes problems for them in which either they do not get their say in an argument or people get the wrong idea of them. Because of their state of peace, people can sometimes feel that 9’s don’t care when really they have it in their minds trying to think of the best positive way to come up with a solution, if something needs to be solved. 9’s self-sacrificing and positive view of people can lead them to be taken advantage of or taken for granted. People do not seem to see the great things 9’s can offer to them until they are gone.
- My Own Words -
Given all that and putting it into understanding for me, it makes sense and I do see all those traits in myself. I'm a strong minded person and not so easily influenced. I don't just believe what this book say and believe that's how I am. Because this is how I am, growing up in the projects around negative influence never stopped me from being the better person and I tried to help everyone the best way that I can. I've never thought of joining gangs or harm people in anyway. Had friends that was into all that and still tried helping them, but unfortunately not everyone can be helped and life goes on. Don't get me wrong I'm not always that great, made mistakes and some regrets but the way I see it, if I never made those mistakes I've never became the person that I am. I hated school never wanted to go but I knew I have to get my diploma so I pushed my laziness to the side and finished. Having struggles in high school, I've never thought I would finish college, but I know what needs to be done to have a secure future and took the ride. Now with my BA degree I'm ready to start my life and add my imprint into the world.
